Great piece! I love the life at the beach, particularly the intertidal zone. So much life indeed!

The birds using that zone are amazing. I love watching Sanderlings follow the water as it recedes, scrambling for anything that might be exposed, and hurriedly before the next wave washes in. BTW the birds in your pic are Ruddy Turnstones (eight of the small birds), and the larger birds are Wandering Tattlers. The single smaller bird (left of centre) I can't identify.

I love the ocean, and I mean out on the big blue paddock! It is an unusual feeling to head out to see as night falls, doing a steady eight knots, and waking up not being able to see land. A tiny cap full of fish oil on the water and the seabirds turn up within minutes seemingly from out of nowhere. Seabirds are just incredible.
