There are/were indeed plenty of Oils fans that just want to be drunken yobs and mosh at a live show. The kind of fans that throw coins and bottles at the support acts. Fortunatey, most of them got left behind in the 80s. Part of the appeal for me was the bravery and honesty in singing about all of those issues (and yes, there was plenty of anti-american sentiment in some songs [US forces give the nod, it's a setback for your country]).
