This final part of the series covers my fifth decade on the third rock from the sun. I have also included the last few years as well to get up to date.
A varied and complex decade-plus for me. Work was great, lots of interesting stuff including significant accomplishments and achievements. Oh, and dozens of trips around the country, and a big international jaunt. I was still undertaking plenty of extracurricular life activities, such as bird research (which took me to Indonesia twice), and baseball playing and coaching. Then the first Parkinson’s symptoms crept in, and went undiagnosed for three years. Finally got a diagnosis in 2015 at the age of 46. Medically retired at 50. I continue to be a father, husband and contributing member of society, and raising my now 17 year old son is the most important thing for me to do.
