It can take someone many years to develop that level of emotional intelligence.

Having a somewhat invisible disability is hard going too. Especially a condition like Parkinson’s disease. One hour, I’m totally “on” and people don’t know there’s anything wrong. An hour or two later I could be “off”, and staggering/shuffling around like I’m drunk. One minute someone is asking me why I’m using the disabled parking space (despite the permit in the window), the next minute someone is dropping comments as they walk past, wondering why I’m drunk at 10:00 am.
